GPVEC Adds Dystocia Model to Teaching Resources
This summer GPVEC purchased a life-size cow and calf to be used in teaching students how to assist in
the delivery of a calf. The calf can be placed in the cow’s uterus in various positions to mimic normal or
abnormal presentations during birth.
The cow has a lifelike udder that can
be filled with normal or mastitic
milk to aid in instructing students on
how to perform a California Mastitis
Test or simply how to milk a cow.
The cow also has interchangeable
uteri at various stages of gestation to
help train students in
pregnancy diagnosis.
At this time, neither the
cow nor the calf have a
name, so if you
have a favorite
name you
would like to
suggest please,
send your ideas
to Debbie
